LET US POUR OIL ON TROUBLED WATER

LET US POUR OIL ON TROUBLED WATER
I could still remember when I used to sit by my grandfather whose tales made me prick up my ears to the stories of his teenage time, when peace is every where. Those times, rattling of guns could only be heard in the bush when hunters were hunting.
But today the story is not the same. I once sat down chewing the end of overcoming our tribulations, as many committees were set out, many meetings held here and there, now and then, curfews ……… but all these efforts end in smoke.
It is a maxim that sin of any kind can cause danger to a society. Wow! There is problem! Please, how often were you caught red handed with the wife of you neighbor pants down?!
The mesmerizing speeches of preachers that can make a mad dog calm down and sleep to the end of the world are just for show off.
Usury roams about freely in our markets, bribes, cheatings… Uhm! I certainly don’t want to add to our present predicaments or become a contributor to our destruction, I therefore have to repent. I repent. My friends please repent, repent, and repent for the sake of our future generation. Please for the sake our present time let us pour oil on troubled water.

MOTHER NIGERIA

MOTHER NIGERIA
Our Social Studies teacher told us that there are three main tribes in Nigeria. Blessed pregnant Mother Nigeria was diagnosed by a doctor who told her that she is going to give birth to three children. On delivery, compassionate Mother Nigeria named one of the triplets Mr. North and asked him to live in the north. She named the second child Mr. South and southern part of the country was made to be his dwelling place. The third child who decided to settle in the east was named Mr. East.
Mother Nigeria owns a very large herd of cattle which she entrusted its rearing to Mr. North and Mr. South successively. As good and responsible children, Mr. North and Mr. South did their best in keeping the herd healthy and secured through the provision of veterinaries and strong shepherds who are ever ready to guard the cattle at the price of their own lives. To prevent the cattle from hunger they introduced valuable programs like Operation Feed the Nation, Green Revolution, Back to Land etc. Beside these, they constructed good roads and bridges for the cattle to roam about freely in the country in search of pasture.
Alas! Poor Mother Nigeria! She is now 54 years of age, seriously in need of help and support, Mr. East assumes the responsibility of taking care of the cattle. Unfortunately, many of the cattle were mercilessly murdered. Well we are not surprised. Mr. East had once made Mother Nigeria cry in 1966 when he executed the first bloody coup which engulfed many excellent cattle from the north and south. Since then, Mother Nigeria had pogroms, political paralysis, a vicious civil war, depression, unrest fueling ……..
My friends, I am very sorry for the grammatical errors, I don’t mean to make them BUT NA DEM WAKA COM.
